DOCTOR COPAY

A doctor copay is the amount you will pay for a doctor visit. For example, if you have a $15 doctor co-pay, then $15 is the amount you will pay when you go to the doctor instead of it just going towards meeting your deductible. Often times you have a choice of what you want your copay to be such as $15, $25, and $40. The higher the copay the lower your premium will be. Many times this option is not available to All Provider plans or if you use a doctor which is not part of the network.  Some companies such as Wellmark have a COINSURANCE as opposed to a COPAY. Instead of having a flat amount to pay, you pay either 10 or 20 percent of the bill depending on what your coinsurance is.
